About Federal Way

The name comes from old Federal Highway 99, around which the community grew before incorporating in 1990 — making it one of the youngest cities in King County. Wedged between Tacoma and Seattle, it has more land per dollar than either, and its Sound-front parks rival the famous Seattle ones without the parking war.
