Platted in 1925 as one of the Pacific Northwest's first planned suburbs, Fircrest was designed with curving streets and strict setback rules to keep it residential forever — no commercial strip, no cut-through traffic. It incorporated in 1943 and has barely changed shape since. The Douglas firs the city was named for still line most blocks. Buyers discover it when they realize it shares borders with University Place and Tacoma but has the unhurried feel of a much smaller town.
