About Milton

Milton grew up along the Puget Sound Electric Railway, the Interurban line that hummed between Seattle and Tacoma from 1902. The Milton Land Company platted the townsite after the first schoolhouse rose in 1903 — lots sold for as little as $29 an acre — a post office followed in 1905, and in 1907 residents voted 46–18 to incorporate. The little city still straddles the Pierce–King county line on the hill above the Fife valley floor, and the old rail right-of-way survives as the paved Milton Interurban Trail. For buyers, Milton is one of the quieter values in the north Pierce corridor: mid-century ramblers, split-levels, and 1990s cul-de-sacs that typically trade below Edgewood and Federal Way, with Fife schools, Surprise Lake, and I-5 and SR 167 minutes away — small-town scale within a 35-minute reach of Tacoma and Sea-Tac.
