About Puyallup
Named for the Puyallup Tribe ("the generous people"), the city grew up on hops, berries, and bulbs. The Washington State Fair has been held here every September since 1900 — "Do the Puyallup" is a regional rite of fall. The downtown bell tower still anchors a Main Street that didn't get malled over. Mt. Rainier is the third character in every story about this town.
